MONTREAL – Noah Juulsen is steadily assuming a leadership role on the Everett Silvertips’ back end, and embracing the responsibility that comes with it. In the midst of his third full-time WHL campaign, the 18-year-old rearguard continues to progress nicely under the watchful eye of veteran bench boss Kevin Constantine, who speaks rather highly of Juulsen’s willingness to take younger players under his wing to ease them along in their transition to playing the Silvertips’ brand of hockey. “That’s probably where his comfort level is right now. In Noah’s case, it isn’t necessarily about telling someone his own age or someone older than him what he thinks they should be doing. I think his comfort level is with younger players coming up. That’s great to see. I think that’s how you start your leadership career,” offered Constantine, who has coached Juulsen since his arrival in Everett on a full-time basis back in 2013-14. “Come next year, he will carry a huge mantle of leadership on his shoulders here. MONTREAL -- Carey Price was in the building on Tuesday, but it was another goaltender who stole the show. Pregame, Alex Galchenyuk warned of the effect the Bell Centre can have on visiting teams looking to crash the party. Cue Martin Jones and the San Jose Sharks who arrived in Montreal having lost six in a row. On a day when Price -- still sidelined with a lower body injury but making an appearance during a TV timeout to a standing ovation -- earned the Lou Marsh Award as Canada’s top athlete, Jones stopped 26 of 27 shots -- including three over a pair of Habs power plays -- to earn the night’s First Star on the way to a 3-1 decision. “We’re getting great looks, our personnel is so good and we’ve got so many options, but we’re just not beating goalies right now. I’m sure we’re going to look at it and get back to basics, but we hit a hot goalie tonight. He played a hell of a game,” admitted Nathan Beaulieu, who was denied of a sure goal with the man advantage during the third period. “He’s a world-cl

MONTREAL – If 2015 was the year of Carey Price in the NHL, the same can now be said of his year across all Canadian sports. After dominating last season’s NHL Awards in Las Vegas, Price was announced on Tuesday as the recipient of the Lou Marsh Memorial Trophy, given annually to the top Canadian athlete, for 2015. Last June, Price became only the second goaltender in the history of the National Hockey League to win the Hart Trophy (MVP), the Vezina Trophy (Best Goaltender) and the Ted Lindsay Award (Best Player as voted on by the NHLPA) during the same season. On top of sharing the William Jennings Trophy for the least goals allowed in a season, the Canadiens’ goaltender broke a franchise record by registering 44 wins in 2014-15, surpassing the previous mark of 42 wins set by Jacques Plante and Ken Dryden. This is the 13th time since the inauguration of the Lou Marsh Award in 1936 that the recipient is a hockey player. Price is the first goaltender to ever win the award. The last hockey player to

SHARKS (14-14-1) @ CANADIENS (20-8-3) TV: RDS, SNE 7:30 p.m. The Canadiens welcome the San Jose Sharks to the Bell Centre Tuesday night in the first matchup between the two teams this season. Following their game against the Sharks, the Canadiens are set to face off against the Los Angeles Kings at home on Thursday night before embarking on an eight game road trip. The extended road swing has the team returning home to Montreal to face the New Jersey Devils on January 6, 2016. Interestingly, the last four games between Montreal and San Jose have all ended in shutouts. The Habs came away with a 2-0 blanking of the Sharks in the most recent clash, snapping San Jose’s streak of three consecutive shutouts against the Habs. While both teams had a strong start to the 2015-16 season, the two combatants are presently battling through adversity. The Habs halted a four game losing streak with a 3-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night, while the Sharks are struggling to find their firs

The Montreal Canadiens have a new farm team this season, the St. John's IceCaps. To help Canadiens fans track the team's performance in the AHL, we have invited Charles Dart, website contributor of the IceCaps' official website to prepare a bi-weekly summary of the action in Newfoundland. ST. JOHN’S - The St. John’s IceCaps are seeing first-hand the trickling effects of injuries in Montréal and the subsequent NHL call-ups that follow. The IceCaps continue to be without top scorers Sven Andrighetto, Daniel Carr, and Charles Hudon as well as goaltender Dustin Tokarski who are still on assignment with the Canadiens. Bud Holloway, Christian Thomas, and Zach Fucale have also had various assignments and reassignments between the two clubs. St. John’s completed their six-game road trip on December 5th with a 3-1-1-1 record before returning home to face the Rochester Americans (BUF) for a two-game set this past weekend. The club suffered just their first regulation home loss of the season at Mile One Centre on

BROSSARD – The Canadiens will likely be welcoming Torrey Mitchell back to the lineup on Tuesday night. Mitchell, who suffered a lower-body injury on November 19 against the Arizona Coyotes, hasn’t seen game action since. After missing the last 11 games, it’s no surprise that the 30-year-old Greenfield Park native is eager to return to active duty against one of his former clubs – the San Jose Sharks. “I’m ready to play. It will be up to the coaches, but I feel like I’m ready to go,” offered Mitchell, who was selected 126th overall by the Sharks back in 2004 and spent the first four seasons of his NHL career plying his trade in Northern California. “I was out a little bit longer than I expected. I thought that I’d be out for two weeks, but it took over three. It’s all behind me now, though. I’m not really worried about anything. I just followed the doctor’s orders and I took things one step at a time.” At practice on Monday, Mitchell centered the Canadiens’ fourth line flanked by young guns Daniel Car
